The
South Beach Diet
Ever wonder what all the hype was about with the South Beach Diet?
This diet is supposed to be so simple to use and the weight loss has been
proven! The diet originally started as a healthy way for heart patients of Miami
cardiologist, Arthur Agatston, who needed to lose weight. This fully researched
diet became the foundation of this diet experience. Of all the diets I have
researched, this is the most healthy diet for people who are SERIOUS about
losing weight and making changes in their life. This diet works in three simple
phases.
Phase 1:
Phase one is the “learning phase” that last two weeks. During this time, you
will learn to eat in a whole new way. You will be able to eat normal size
helpings of meat and seafood as well as plenty of vegetables, eggs, cheese and
nuts. In these first 14 days, you won’t have any bread, rice, potatoes, pasta or
baked goods. Throughout these two weeks, you will be able to eat three balanced
meals each day and still satisfy your hunger. These two weeks teach you the
essentials of eating the RIGHT way and will establish good eating habits that
will enable you to move into Phase 2.
Phase 2:
Phase two is your “weight loss phase” and you remain in this phase until you
reach your target weight. During this phase, you will be adding back all of the
items you were not allowed to eat during the first phase. The diet guidelines
will teach you exactly which carbohydrates are good and which are bad. By eating
the right balance of carbohydrates, you will continue to lose weight instead of
gaining it!
Phase 3:
Since the South Beach Diet is designed to be a permanent weight loss solution,
phase three lasts from the point that you reach your target weight and into the
rest of your life. At this point, you will no longer be on a diet but you will
have changed your way of eating. By watching the types of carbohydrates you
intake and making smart choices about portion sizing, you will be able to keep
the weight that you lost off! You diet will be rich in minerals and vitamins as
well as HEALTHY fats like olive oil and omega-3 oils from fish. This diet is
